MADE IN ITALY

Our point of view as consumers, rather than producers, is that a “Made in Italy” garment should have been completely made in Italy.

Otherwise there are many alternative terms that can be used, without having to bother with a verb, “to make”, which – specifically in the fashion sector – indicates all-Italian workmanship. The Italian textile industry has always been synonymous with quality, research and attention to detail. Unfortunately, reality and our point of view do not coincide, the result being that the idea of “Made in Italy” has become fuzzier. On the market we find products that have very little Italian about them. And by Italian we really mean all the quality that this term brings with it, not just geographically speaking.

According to European legislation, a product that has been made in two or more countries is still considered to originate in the country where the last transformation or substantial work took place. This means that if 70% of an article is produced abroad and 30% in Italy, the article can be labelled as “Made in Italy”.

WHY “REALLY MADE IN ITALY”?

In an effort to provide our products with the transparency we would like to encounter as buyers, on our labels you will find the words “Fatto in Italia, per davvero” “Really Made in Italy”. With this we do not seek to provoke, but to draw attention to the commitment of the realities that continue to follow this choice, despite the costs and difficulties of the entire process. The fabrics we use are entirely designed, produced and dyed in Italy, in the districts of excellence in the sector (find out more about the fabrics we use). The accessories as well, such as zips and buttons, are all produced in Italy. From start to finish, Filotimo garments are designed, checked and fitted, tested and manufactured in Verona, Italy.
